Nancy Scott is scheduled to lead an engaging session on the fascinating world of bees—both honey bees and our many native species for Bellevue University staff and students. Participants will learn about bee behavior, swarming, and the pollination process that sustains our food supply and natural landscapes. Explore the incredible diversity of bees in our region, from ground-nesting and cavity-nesting species to the essential role of honey bees as managed livestock. She will share practical tips for creating pollinator-friendly gardens, including which flowers to plant in spring, summer, and fall, and simple changes you can make to support bees year-round. The goal is to provide deeper understanding of the challenges bees face, easy ways to help bees thrive, as well as inform about Bellevue’s Bee City USA efforts to protect these vital pollinators.
