Walk with us in the Arrows to Aerospace parade and share Green Bellevue’s initiatives with thousands of residents!

The parade route begins at Bert Murphy, travels along Mission Ave., turns left at Franklin St., and ends at the street north of Washington Park.
What we do:

· roll 2 Earth Balls with the kids in attendance
· and pick up trash and recycling (we are good role models!)

The Conscious Curation by Omaha Students for Sustainability
Come join us at the Gene Leahy Mall Performance Pavilion for the Conscious Curation-- an evening community event in the heart of downtown Omaha that celebrates sustainable living and local environmental action. This open-air gathering will feature a curated marketplace of second-hand clothing vendors, interactive booths from local organizations, and hands-on education in everything from composting and home gardening to solar energy and sustainable hiking practices. Guests will have the opportunity to learn from Omaha Public Power District experts about integrating solar energy into their homes, connect with local gardeners and conservationists such as Fontenelle Forest, and shop eco-consciously from a variety of upcycled fashion and goods vendors. The event is open to all ages and is free of admission or reservation. Food trucks will be present, a live band performance is tentatively scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Performance Pavilion. Led by Nancy Scott, a Nebraska Certified Nurseryman and Master Gardener—recently honored with the Green Omaha Coalition’s Lifetime Achievement Friend of the Environment Award—these sessions are perfect for beginners and seasoned gardeners alike.
Then we will move to Gemini Park, located near the back Offutt gate near Sarpy County Museum. (See map at: https://g.co/kgs/WcYN8py). We will review the plants in the garden, status of the plants and complete weeding and mulching needed.

Pollinator Week
Pollinator Week is an annual celebration in support of pollinator health that was initiated and is managed by Pollinator Partnership. It is a time to raise awareness for pollinators and spread the word about what we can do to protect them. Pollinator Week has grown into an international celebration, promoting the valuable ecosystem services provided by bees, birds, butterflies, bats, beetles, moths, wasps, and flies. People across the planet have pledged to continue promoting pollinator health and well-being through their Pollinator Week events. Party for the Planet at the Zoo
The Zoo Academy will host their annual Party for the Planet at the Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. The theme is reducing and reusing, demonstrating how the zoo uses repurposed items for enrichment and also a table for pollinator information and making milkweed balls.

Earth Day Bellevue University Seed Library Launch
This coming Earth Day, Bellevue University Freeman Lozier Library (map) will launch the new Seed Library in room 480, beginning with a curated selection of seeds, that will be expanded through donations and in response to demand. Some of the seeds were collected on campus from native flowers cultivated by the University’s Sustainability Lab. The event will showcase the seeds on the dedicated bookshelf from the Nature Smart Library committee. See article in March eletter for more information.

Earth Day in Bellevue
Join our special Earth Day program at Bellevue University to learn about environmental projects and efforts that are taking place in the local area. This year’s EarthDay.org theme is “Our People, Our Power” highlighting the benefits of clean energy but also that each of us can make a difference with the actions we take. The event will be held in the Symposium room located on floor B of the Mueller Building. Check our Earth Day page for new additions to the program.

Green Initiative Waste Free Event
Bellevue East’s Green Initiative is working to make the Thursday, January 23rd Bellevue East basketball games against Lincoln East a waste free event. The goal is to divert as much waste from the landfill as possible. Attendees can learn about our efforts to become a more sustainable school through composting, recycling, and overall food waste reduction.
